Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement SP Dr Vedamurthy speaks at the SC/ST grievances meeting in Mangaluru on Sunday.
DCP (Law and order) Hanumantharaya said that the City Police Commissioner has directed the review of rowdy sheeter list in the Commissionerate jurisdiction and process is ongoing.
He was speaking at the SC/ST grievances meeting in Mangaluru on Sunday.
"Reviewing the rowdy sheeter list is a continuous process. A man who was included in rowdy sheeter decades ago would have been leading a decent life now. Such people will be removed from the list."
Earlier, Dalit leader Raghuveer Sootarpete appealed to the police officer to review the rowdy sheeter list ahead of the assembly election.
Further, he said that the traffic police personnel are engaged in mobile phones instead of controlling the traffic.
Dalit leader Girish said that 98 cents of Depressed Classes Manna (DC Manna) land at SC colony near Someshwar has been sold to a Muslim family. There is a need to conduct a probe into the incident.
Sadashiva of Urwastore said strict action should be initiated against fish-laden lorries releasing dirty water on the roads.
The spillage of greasy and smelly water from the lorries transporting fish is posing a major safety threat to road users. The imposing of a Rs 100 fine against such lorries is insufficient.
DCP (Crime) Uma Prashanth was present.
