In Afghanistan, two suicide attackers struck a Shiite mosque on Sunday, killing at least one person and injuring eight others.
Provincial governor spokesman Jilani Farhad said, the attackers stormed the grounds of the mosque in the western city of Herat, but security guards shot dead one of them and the other blew himself up before reaching the hall where worshipers were praying.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but the Islamic State terrorist group regularly targets the country's Shiite minority.
An Islamic State suicide bomber targeted a group of Shiites marking the Persian new year in Kabul last week, killing at least 33 people and injuring dozens more, many of them teenagers.
