Resentment against incumbent Congress MLA Feroz Sait who represents Belagavi North Assembly Constituency came to the fore on Sunday.
The minority community leaders demanded that the party high command must give the ticket for the upcoming Assembly poll to some other Muslim candidate or face the wrath of the community.
Community leaders who gathered under the banner 'Belagavi Muslim Forum' took strong objection to two-time MLA Feroz Sait's functioning and accused him of nepotism.
Former Wakf Board Chairman C K S Nazir said at press conference here, that Sait had reduced the district Congress unit to a mere
'Sait Family Limited'.
The senior Congress leader accused Feroz Sait of having made his family members office bearers in city district unit of the party by sidelining veterans.
Nazir, who was accompanied by loyal party workers blamed Sait for the recent communal unrest that prevailed in the city; resulting in the police booking cases against 1800 city youth.
Nazir demanded the party leadership nominate some person other than Sait, from the community as the candidate; or they would be forced to field a candidate on behalf for their Forum and work against the party in the polls.
Nazir also revealed that the Forum was in favour of tickets to community members Sayed Javid Pasha Inamdar or Hasham Bhavikati who are aspirants from the constituency.
