ALLAHABAD: Goods worth thousands of rupees were gutted when a
fire broke out in a shop in
Civil Lines area on Saturday. The fire safety officer said that the fire reportedly broke out due to a
short circuit.
The fire was doused by two fire tenders within 30 minutes.
As per reports, at around 1pm commuters spotted smoke billowing from the top floor of the building and immediately informed the fire department and police.
Inspector of Civil Lines police station,
Shivmangal, said, "The fire department immediately sent a tender to douse the flames. However, when it proved insufficient another fire-tender was sent. The fire gutted the furniture and other equipment on the floor."
