Prisoner escapes, 2 cops booked

Rajkot: An undertrial prisoner gave the cops the slip when he was brought at Rajkot Civil Hospital from Morbi sub-jail on Saturday evening.

According to the details of the case, Mahendra Chawda, who was arrested for murder, was brought to the civil hospital for treatment. On Saturday evening, when he was being taken back to Morbi in a police van, he pushed constable Pravin Rathod aside and fled.


Two cops have been booked for negligence of duty in this connection.


“Neither Rathod nor assistant sub-inspector Jetha Chauhan informed their superiors about the incident till Saturday night. They were booked for negligence in duty,” said a police official.
