Coimbatore: A 34-year-old man has been arrested for molesting a Class II girl student at Udaiyampalayam here on Friday night.
According to police, C Sathishkumar, a marketing executive with a soap company, had separated from his wife six months ago and living alone at his house at Udaiyampalayam.
On Friday around 6.30pm, he took a minor girl, who was playing in front of her house in his neighbourhood, to an isolated place and molested her. The girl, aged about 6, narrated the incident to her mother, who approached the all-women police (east) on Saturday. The police registered a case against Sathishkumar under Sections 7 read with 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and arrested him.
The police produced Sathishkumar before a judicial magistrate court, which remanded him judicial custody. Later, he was lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
Sathishkumar, police said, have a son studing in LKG. “His wife took him with her when she left Sathishkumar,” they said.
