The West Country has some of the most sought-after real estate in the country, but many locations are now beyond the reach of the average homebuyer.  

Savills has carried out research to come up with the ultimate West Country swap shop: where to buy near that dream holiday destination, with similar sea views and great restaurants, but for far less. Whether it’s rural, urban or coastal, there will be somewhere nearby to snap up. 

Cornwall

Prime coastal towns in Cornwall attract foodies and the surf set. Rock, which has ­average prices of more than £554,000, is the top bolt-hole with Padstow, made ­famous by Rick Stein, coming in at £437,000.
