Cable car service mooted for devotees

Officials told to study feasibility

Minister for Municipal Administration and IT K.T. Rama Rao has asked officials to examine the feasibility of launching cable car facilities for pilgrims visiting the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada in the district.

At a review meeting on the Vemulawada Temple Development Authority (VTDA) on the Assembly premises in Hyderabad on Saturday, the Minister asked the officials to study the feasibility of operating cable car from the new RTC Bus Station complex to the temple. He also asked the authorities to introduce free local bus services, mostly electric buses for local transportation of pilgrims. Instructing authorities to take all measures for the beautification of Vemulawada, he asked them to build a sewerage treatment plant to treat drainage water.

The Minister also promised to develop another ghat road to the Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy temple at Nampally hillocks in the vicinity of Vemulawada shrine. Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar, Vemulawada legislator Ch. Ramesh Babu and VTDA officials were present.
