Community members chanted for peace and gun control and held signs condemning gun violence on Saturday as they gathered in support of Parkland students at Waterloo Region's March For Our Lives rally at Wilfrid Laurier University.
The rally was organized by Rupinder Mangat and kicked off at 11 a.m.

At the rally, participants heard from speakers from non-violence organizations and student refugees, who fled their homeland because of gun violence.
They also took a moment of silence to show support for victims of violence.
Mangat said she hopes this event will remind people that there are also problems with gun violence in Canada and around the world.

March For Our Lives rallies are happening across Canada and the U.S. with the largest being in Washington D.C. Close to Waterloo region, rallies are also held in Guelph and Stratford on Saturday.
On Friday, Preston High School students also rallied in support of March For Our Lives.
