Taylor Hall scored on a breakaway 27 seconds into overtime to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night.
Hall, who scored his 33rd of the season, added two assists. Nico Hischier finished with a goal and an assist. Former Union star Keith Kinkaid made 40 stops for the Devils, who finished a season-high six-game trip 4-2.
The victory gave New Jersey a three-point lead over Florida for the final playoff spot in the East.
Bruins 3, Stars 2: David Pastrnak broke a tie with 12 seconds left and Boston scored three straight goals in the third to rally past fading Dallas. Brad Marchand had a goal and an assist, and Tim Schaller scored short-handed. Tuukka Rask made a season-high 40 saves as Boston moved within four points of Tampa Bay atop the East.
Canadiens 3, Sabres 0: Antti Niemi stopped 35 shots for his first shutout in 27 months, and Montreal snapped a seven-game road skid. The Sabres' league-worst home record dropped to 11-22-5, and they must win their final two home games to avoid setting a franchise low for fewest wins in an 82-game season (13-21-7, in 2012-13). Rookie Linus Ullmark had 21 saves.
Blues 4, Canucks 1: Patrik Berglund scored twice and surging St. Louis won its fourth straight. Jake Allen made 19 saves as the Blues won for the sixth time in seven games.
Jets 3, Ducks 2 (OT): Kyle Connor scored 3:16 into overtime and Winnipeg set a single-season franchise record for points with 100.
