Members of fringe group of left wing extremists

The Palvancha police on Saturday arrested two members of the ‘underground squad’ affiliated to the CPI (ML-New Democracy) Ramanna group and seized two weapons from the duo.

Exactly a week after apprehending an underground cadre of the same outfit following a brief encounter in the forest area near Vulvanoor, the police inflicted a major blow to the Ramanna group’s ‘underground squad’.

A police team led by Palvancha Circle Inspector Raghavendra Rao nabbed two members of the dalam — Kovasi Bhudru and Madivi Ungi — besides a sympathiser of the outfit during a search operation at Vulvanoor, a forest fringe village, on Saturday morning, police said.

Police sources said two weapons including a Springfield rife and a pistol were recovered from the possession of Bhudru and Ungi. The duo were allegedly involved in a murder case and two separate incidents of exchange of fire.
