SRINAGAR: Two
Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter in Dooru of south Kashmir’s
Anantnag district on Saturday. Both of them were Pakistani nationals, cops said.
Acting on intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Dooru’s Shishtargam region, a joint team of Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force and 19 Rashtriya Rifles of the
Indian Army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. Holed-up terrorists opened fire at the forces, triggering a gunfight, said a police spokesman.
Two Pakistani terrorists were killed in the ensuing encounter and are yet to be identified. A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, pistols and grenades, along with other incriminating evidence found on them revealed they belonged to JeM, said cops.
As a precautionary measure, train services were suspended and internet connectivity snapped in parts of south Kashmir, including Kulgam and Anantnag. Security forces have sanitized the area, said sources.
