SANDWICH – The public is invited to an open house hosted by Fox Valley Older Adult Services at the Fox Valley Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Over the past year, changes at the center have included separating the Voluntary Action Center’s offices from FVOAS, giving each organization its own space. Walls of a storage room were removed to extend the space of the senior lounge. Workers renovated the hallways, expanded, moved and remodeled the home services department, added storage space for the adult day service and relocated the library and computer room.

During the event, attendees can tour the changes to the library, computer lab, VAC offices, adult day service department, home services department and remodeled administrative offices.

There also will be a free lunch and games, raffles and entertainment.

FVOAS offers active adult activities at the senior center, adult day service and home services, including 24/7 private home services to residents of DeKalb, Kane, Kendall and LaSalle counties. The agency partners with VAC for transportation and nutrition.

FVOAS serves 1,500 seniors annually, offering an average of four activities a day and trips once a month. About 30 seniors are in adult day services, 200 seniors are in home services and 40 to 50 seniors attend a lunchtime congregate meal Monday through Friday.
