Six arrested for attestation fraud

Huge fee for NoRKA attestation

The Cantonment police on Friday busted an attestation racket and arrested six persons for allegedly defrauding several applicants of large sums.

Those arrested have been identified as Mukesh of Edapazhinji, Libin of Pallichal, Jijin of Vilappil, Ratheesh of Palakkad, Amarnath of Sasthamangalam, and Vishnu of Ooruttambalam. They have been accused of duping applicants who sought to get their certificates attested at the NoRKA-Roots office at Thycaud.

Modus operandi

The gang used to allegedly collects sums ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000, while only ₹50 was charged by NoRKA as fee for attestation. The scam came to light after the police took into custody Saheer of Azhoor, who was found near the Secretariat under suspicious circumstances a few days ago.
