MoU signed on fish products’ project

A Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between Visakhapatnam Research Centre of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT) ICAR-CIFT and Samudra Fish Workers’ Society, Mangamaripetta for production of value-added speciality fish products under the fishpreneurship project, here on Saturday.

Processing aids were distributed to the Samudra Fish Workers’ Society for starting up a small scale unit on value-added fish products.

Hands on skill development training programme for fisherwomen of Samudra Fish Workers’ Society was conducted on the preparation of specialty fish products like fish burgers, fish samosa, fish cutlets, fish fingers and stretched shrimp.

C.N. Ravishankar, Director ICAR-CIFT, Kochi released the training manual titled “Speciality fishery products” written specially for the benefit of fisherwomen in Telugu.

A.A. Zynudheen, Principal Scientist and HoD, QAM division of ICAR-CIFT demonstrated the CIFT test kit for the rapid detection of formalin and ammonia in fish.
