BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa chided AICC president Rahul Gandhi for trying to show his Hindu credentials by visiting temples during election time.
What was Mr. Gandhi’s family doing all these years? Why did they not visit temples or meet religious leaders for these many decades?
Now that they want to show that they care for Hindus, they are running to temples. All that is politically motivated, he said.
He told presspersons he wished Mr. Gandhi learn and study more about Hindu culture.
However, “even if Mr. Gandhi’s temple visits were part of a drama to show the public that he is a believer in Hinduism and its ideals, I welcome these visits,” he said in Belagavi on Saturday.
“The 2018 Assembly election in the State is like a war for us, and the BJP is readying a strategy to win this war. Under the able leadership of Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have won 21 States. Karnataka will be the 22nd,” he told TV channels on the sidelines of a Backward Classes rally.
