One person was killed and two others sustained serious injuries after two vehicles collided on the R82 in Wolwehoek towards the direction of Koppies on Saturday.
ER24 spokesperson, Ineke van Huyssteen, said paramedics arrived on the scene at around 06.30, and found one patient still entrapped in the one vehicle.
“Unfortunately, the man sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene,” she said.
Van Huyssteen said two other patients were found to have sustained serious injuries.
“ER24 assisted the one patient on the scene before he was airlifted to hospital by a medical helicopter. The other patient was transported to hospital by the provincial ambulance.”
Van Huyssteen said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident was not yet known but police had been on the scene for further investigations.
