Collector Pravin Kumar called upon the officials of various departments to be prepared with summer action plan to augment drinking water supply and prevent water scarcity as April was fast approaching.
The Zilla Parishad general body was held under the auspices of the Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani at the ZP Meeting Hall here on Saturday.
In his opening remarks, the Collector directed the officials to undertake repair of non-functional borewells and measures to supply water through tankers in the uncovered areas. He said ₹112 crore was released for undertaking various works in the Agency areas of the district and the works were in various stages.
The ITDA and Velugu were involved in the supply of water through gravity schemes in the tribal areas. The Collector also urged the officials concerned to be on the alert to check the outbreak of seasonal diseases.
The Superintendent Engineer of Panchayat Raj said cement concrete roads were laid under MGNREGS. While the target was to lay 522 km CC roads in the district, 559 km CC roads were laid.
The officials of various departments presented reports on the works taken up by their respective department and their progress. The ZPTC and MPP members brought to the notice of the officials the issue pertaining to their villages under their jurisdiction. They apprised the Collector that bills were not being paid to contractors for the works executed.
Mr. Pravin Kumar said as the financial year was drawing to a close, there were delays in the payment of bills and assured the members that payments would be made in the first week of April.

Former ZP Chairperson Vanjangi Kantamma was felicitated on the occasion. The family members of deceased former chairpersons GB Appa Rao, Rajasagi Suryanarayana Raju, Rajasagi Seetharama Raju and Dronamraju Satyanarayana and noted businessman Lalam Bhaskar were also felicitated on the occasion.
