Youth held for cheating people at ATMs

The Kachiguda police apprehended a person for diverting the attention of gullible people who come to draw cash at ATMs and recovered ₹ 2.3 lakh from him.

The accused has been identified as D. Siddesh (27), from Krishnapuram in Kurnool district, working at a solar plant as a daily wage earner. Cops said that the accused was used to living a luxurious life and resorted to crime to maintain this lifestyle. They said that his victims were primarily uneducated people who went to ATM machines to draw cash. He offered to help his victims to draw cash. After gaining their trust he swapped the original ATM cards with fake ones.

On March 2, one P. Babu Rao lodged a complaint with the police that the accused replaced the card and memorised the pin number. He then drew ₹ 36,000 and fled.

Mr. Siddesh is involved in 12 other cases registered in police stations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. A theft and cheating case has been booked against him.
