Chicago Fire's DuShon Monique Brown died Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was 49 years old.

According to TMZ, the actress checked into a hospital several days ago for chest pains and after running a few tests, she was sent home. However, her health declined on Friday and she succumbed to a cardiac episode.

"The Chicago Fire family is devastated to lose one of its own," executive producer Dick Wolf said, per the Chicago Tribune. "Our thoughts and prayers are with DuShon's family and we will all miss her."

Brown starred on the NBC drama as Connie, Boden's (Eamonn Walker) tough but lovable assistant. Her other credits include Empire, Prison Break and the film One Small Hitch.

She is survived by her daughter.
