Corey Kluber pitched six innings and Roberto Perez hit his fifth home run of the spring as the Indians beat the Texas Rangers, 10-3, in Surprise, Ariz., on March 24.

Outfielder Brandon Guyer, who is recovering from wrist surgery, made his first start of the spring. He went 1-for-3 with a single and he was hit by a pitch. Guyer, who is often hit by pitches, told reporters it felt “like a bee sting.”

Kluber gave up two runs on Elvis Andrus’ first inning homer. He game up two hits the rest of his stint and struck out six. He is carrying a 2.29 ERA this spring.

Perez, who is hitting .500 this spring, hits his homer as the designated hitter in the sixth inning. It was his 13th RBI of the spring. Fellow catcher Yan Gomes added a two-run double in the seventh that brought his spring RBI total to 14.

Rob Resnyder, who is fighting with Tyler Naquin for a roster spot, drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Zach McAllister continued his strong spring, pitching 2/3 of an inning, giving up no runs and striking out two. McAllister has a 1.35 ERA in 13 1/3 innings of relief and has struck out 12.

Fan favorite Mike Napoli, who has been invited to the Tribe camp to help his efforts to be signed by another team, was 2-for-3 and his hitting .670. He also improbably stole second base.
