Dharwad: DDPI N H Nagur on Saturday suspended two officials for dereliction of duty following reports that nearly 20 fresh students, who had appeared for the SSLC first language paper at Mallikarjun High School examination centre at Kundgol on Friday, were given question papers meant for repeaters.

The suspended officials have been identified as custodian of question paper S B Bhavikatti and room invigilator Umesh Madiwalar. This apart, the additional commissioner has been asked to hold a departmental inquiry against the chief custodian and also sitting squad officer.

The DDPI said confusion prevailed during the first 30 minutes of the examination. After the students brought to the notice of the officials that they were given the wrong question papers, the invigilators realized the mistake and gave them the question papers meant for freshers and allowed them 35 minutes extra to complete the paper. “Parents need not fear. To see that such incidents do not recur, all the supervisors of 92 examination centres have been asked to take care to distribute correct question papers,” Nagur said.
