AGRA: Deputy chief minister
Dinesh Sharma on Saturday said the focus of the state government in the past one year was on improving poor
law and order situation. However, the second year would be dedicated to the improvement in education and business sectors in the state, he added.
"Criminals who used to challenge police are now surrendering on their own and applying for cancellation of their bails to avoid action against them. We have managed to enforce rule of law,” said Sharma at a function organised to commemorate one year of chief minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government at
Gangadhar Shastri Hall of Agra College.
“In its second year, the government will formulate and launch new schemes for the progress of business and education. Besides, new manufacturing units will be set up and ample job opportunities will be created for youngsters,” he said.
He said for the overall development of the state, the government has undertaken many important tasks in the past one year.
Sharma said, “The government ensured cheating-free board examinations, without any requirement of police intervention. Over 11 lakh candidates left exams; most of them were from other states and had come here only to acquire an academic qualification.”
“The government is working on a plan to launch 166 Deendayal Upadhyay Model Schools across the state. Besides, 42 model schools will be opened separately in minority communities-dominated areas. Various other plans are in the pipeline to raise the standard of education, especially at the secondary level,” he said.
Talking about Agra, the deputy CM said, “It is being developed as a smart city. The state government is planning to develop Agra as a world class tourist destination. Water supply and sewer infrastructure will be upgraded. Besides, many major works will be done under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Government has directed officials to complete the remaining 5% of the Gangajal project as soon as possible. By end of this year, Agra will start getting 150 cusec water per day from Palra headworks in Bulandshahr’s Upper Ganga canal,” added deputy CM.
