Ponda Veterans storm into final
BANDORA: Ponda Veterans thrashed Candolim Veterans 4-1 to enter the finals of All Goa Veterans Soccer Tournament, organised by Ponda Veterans Club in association with Dr Ketan Bhatikar’s rehalibation Centre, at Dayanand Bandodkar ground, Bandora-Ponda on Friday. Derrick Pereira, Ambros Fernandes, Bobby Crasto and Vincent Colaco scored for Ponda Veterans while Anthony Pontes reduced the margin for Candolim. All the goals were scored in the second half. In the final scheduled for April 4, Ponda Veterans will meet the winners of other semifinal to be played between Panjim Veterans and Bardez Veterans.
8th Goa Swimathon from today
PANAJI: The 8th Goa Swimathon will be held at the Bambolim Bay on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25. The event to be held in five categories — 250m Sprint Swim, 1km, 2km, 5km and 10kms – will see huge number of swimmers from Goa, India and across the world taking part in it. On Saturday, the 10km race begins at 6.45 am, while the 5km race begins at 7.30 am. Likewise, on Sunday, the one km race begins at 7.30 am, the 2km race at 8 am and the 250 metres sprint at 10 am.
