Ruckus at programme as JD(S),Cong. workers quarrel in Malur

more-in

Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) workers engaged in a verbal duel causing commotion at a programme organised to distribute hakku patra (letters of right) to the beneficiaries under Ashraya scheme here on Saturday.

Taluk administration and Town Municipal Council (TMC) organised the programme at a choultry in which local JD(S) MLA K.S. Manjunath Gowda and Tahsildar Girish took part.

TMC’s nominated member C. Lakshminarayan took exception to the process. It was alleged that the programme was organised keeping in mind the elections without following the required norms.

The JD(S) workers present at the programme objected to the protest, leading to uproar.

The protesters asked the authorities to provide details about the land on which the sites were allotted to the beneficiaries. This left the authorities perplexed as they had no satisfactory reply.

As the Congress activists stuck to their protest, the authorities were forced to cancel the programme.
