VARANASI: Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party has issued showcause notices to two of its MLAs - Kailash Sonekar and Triveni Ram - for "cross-voting in favour of the SP-Congress backed BSP nominee" in Rajya Sabha polls held yesterday.

Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar said a four-member committee has been formed to probe into the matter. "If the allegations levelled against both the MLAs are proved to be true, stern action would be initiated against the duo as per the party rules."

Talking to reporters at circuit house here on Saturday, Rajbhar said, the four-member team constituted to probe into the matter has been asked to submit its report within a week.
