BENGALURU: A newly built swanky structure of Government Model Primary
School near Gavipura in south Bengaluru - where film icon
Shivaji Rao Gaekwad studied - was thrown open on Saturday.
The school built in 1943 had been in dilapidated condition for years. It is better known as the alma mater of actor Rajinikanth, who had studied there in 1954-59.
The government funded Rs 81.4 lakh for the construction and the rest was contributed by MP, MLA funds. The total cost of the project was nearly Rs 1.5 crore.
The 15-classroom school, which will start functioning from Monday onwards, has all modern equipment, including attractive play space, smart boards and audio-visual lab to assist students in learning.
From March 26 onwards, classes will be conducted for the students in the new building.
