NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out in a warehouse in
Swaroop Nagar area in
northwest Delhi. The fire started in the plastic waste lying in the backyard of the warehouse.
Fire department officials said that at around 4pm they received the information following which 22
fire tenders were sent to the spot. The fire is yet to be brought under control and the nearby areas have been evacuated for safety purpose.
According to ANI, fire which had broken out in a godown in Delhi's Swaroop Nagar earlier on Saturday has been doused.
A preliminary probe into the incident has revealed that the fire might have started due to a short circuit in the wires that caught spark and spread to the plastic and rubber items lying nearby. No casualties have been reported so far from the incident and the cooling operation is still underway.
