Kushalnagar: Patient dies at CHC, kin allege doctors negligent attitude

A patient admitted to the community health centre (CMC) in Kushalnagar, died after being subjected to medication. The family members of the patient have accused the negligent attitude of the doctors, to be the reason of the demise of the patient.

Shivkumar (30), son of Doddaiah and Kalamma of Maruru village, is the deceased. On Friday morning, Shivkumar, accompanied by his friend Abhilash, got admitted to the CHC, for having of a stomach ache. After investigating the patient, the doctor gave him an injection.

According to the relatives, Shivkumar seriously fell ill after being injected and breathed his last at 12 noon.

Villagers gathered in front of the health centre in large number, after learning the news. Shivkumar's relatives were inconsolable. Shivkumar is survived by a wife and two children.

District Health and Family Welfare Department Medical Officer In-charge Dr Anand and Taluk Medical Officer Dr Ravikumar visited the hospital and inspected the case, after gathering information from Kushalnagar hospital Administrative Officer Dr Keertiraj and other doctors.

Dr Ravikumar said that the cause of the death could be a heart attack or allergy to the injection. "The body has been sent to the district hospital for autopsy. The accurate cause will be known only after looking into the postmortem report," he said.

Alleging that the side effect of the injection has led to the death of Shivkumar, his family members have submitted a complaint to Kushalnagar police station. A case has been registered.
