Richard Glenn Morris, 77, of Hixburg Road, Pamplin, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Duke University Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Mary Edith Ranson Morris for 54 years. Born in Appomattox on March 16, 1941, he was a son of the late Frances Lorene Martin and Jutson Joel Morris. Glenn was an active member of Rocks Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Lynchburg College, and retired from the Virginia Employment Commission, where he served as a Tax Auditor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Smith and husband, Craig, of Pamplin and Amy M. Shrock and husband, Dale, of Appomattox; one sister, Shirley Blanks Buchanan and husband, John, of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Jordan Camille Martin and Trey Shrock; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louise Roach, Ruth and Bill Caldwell, Frank Roy Ranson, and Mike and Betty Ranson; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Howard Blanks Jr., Harry Eugene Ranson and J. Aulden Roach; and one sister-in-law, Joan Moses Ranson. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Rocks Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Lee officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence.
