TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Trying to address an offseason need, the Arizona Cardinals have signed cornerback Bene Benwikere to a one-year contract.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Benwikere played the first three of his four NFL seasons with Carolina after the Panthers drafted him in the fifth round out of San Jose State. So he is very familiar with new Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks, who was the Panthers’ secondary coach all three of those years.

Benwikere has played in 39 NFL games, 13 as a starter, with two interceptions, 22 passes defensed, a sack, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He played in 14 games for Dallas last season after the Cowboys acquired him in a preseason trade with Cincinnati.
