Remember a game show called “Truth or Consequences?” It comes to mind today because it seems that we, as a country have forgotten the truth, swallowed the lies and are now suffering the consequences.
We swallowed the lie that there is a separation clause in the Constitution that demands that we disallow Christianity in our schools and our government. That would be a startling statement to our Forefathers who founded this nation on Christianity, who started the school system so that the children could learn to read the Bible, who fought against the tyranny of a government mandated religion, but guaranteed in our First Amendment that Congress could make no laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion. The consequences of that lie: decades of children growing up without the Christian values that made this country great.
Another lie was that giving a hand-out is the same thing as giving a hand-up, making it acceptable to be on welfare all your life. The consequences: several generations of people who aren’t willing to work, depending on the government to give them food, housing, medical treatment, education, and even cell phones; a country of tax-payers who are getting tired of it; and a Congress who won’t even try to balance a budget.
Another lie is that sexual immorality should not only be allowed but it should be celebrated and rewarded. Otherwise, why would we allow our children to watch it night after night on TV or in the movies? People seem to be unable to connect the consequences of those pornographic shows to the multiplication of sexual crimes, sex trafficking, raping, and molestation of children.
Another lie is that fetuses are not humans and that women have the right to life while their unborn babies are torn apart in the womb. The consequences: 60 milllion babies have been murdered and life has become very cheap.
Another lie is that our schools, our families, our country will survive without God. The killings, the storms, the devastation we are going through are just the beginning of the consequences.
