Criminals kill construction munshi in Palamu

| | DALTONGANJ | in Ranchi

Unidentified criminals killed a munshi Gobind Chandravanshi at Halka under Harihurganj police station on Wednesday night, said SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha. The bridge is coming up at river Batrey. The SP said the Chhaterpur DSP Shambhu K Singh rushed to the spot at night itself and began investigation there.

Shambhu Kumar Singh, DSP Chhaterpur, said the killers numbering 2 or 3 came on bike and killed Gobind with a desi katta. He ruled out naxals’ hand in this killing as naxals do not use desi katta and also there is no parcha left at the construction site.

As there are in all four munshis working at this bridge construction site, it was only Gobind who was shot dead and none other any harmed to which DSP said this is under our scanner.

Eight other labourers too remained unhurt. The killing of Gobind looked most targeted said sources. They said that there had some threat to this munshi in the recent past too.

It was not immediately known as to whether the munshi or the contractor of this bridge ever approached Harihurganj police for any protection.

The crime spot is three Kms off NH 98 and 75 Kms away from Daltonganj.

Sources said the criminals came on a bike wearing most casual dress at night like T shirt and half pant!

Sources said the Batrey bridge is 80 per cent complete and at such time killing of a munshi at the work site raises eyebrows since naxals or extortionists try to extract levy/ money right at the very start of the construction but here when just 20% construction work is left this killing has taken place.

SP Palamu said this case would be cracked soon.
