Auto-rickshaw overturns in Ghoghamba, 2 dead

VADODARA: Two women were killed and six others injured after an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling overturned in the wee hours of Thursday at Farod village in Ghoghamba taluka of Panchmahal.

A group of nine women from Araad village in Halol had gone to Farod to attend a ‘bhajan’ programme at a social function in a rented auto-rickshaw. After finishing the event, the group left for home in the same village. Around 2 am, when they were passing from a bridge over a ravine, the auto-rickshaw driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.


All seven women and the auto-rickshaw driver were rushed to Halol referral hospital. Police said that two women identified as Laxmi Bariya and Sushila Goswami died during treatment at the hospital while others are undergoing treatment.


On Thursday morning, the driver was referred to SSG Hospital for further treatment.
