"The day, March 23, has been chosen on purpose as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged to death on this day by the British," Hazare said.
Seven years after his anti-corruption movement that shook the then UPA government, Anna Hazare is set to go on an indefinite hunger strike against the Centre, at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi today.

Hazare had sat on a similar hunger strike in 2011 to demand the then Congress-led UPA government for setting up a Lokpal to investigate corruption cases.

This time, Hazare is protesting again for setting up of Lokal Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in the states, besides implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report to address the agrarian distress.

Anna visited Rajghat in the morning and marched to Shaheedi Park before going to Ramlila Maidan for launching his indefinite strike.

"The day, March 23, has been chosen on purpose as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged to death on this day by the British," Hazare said.

"You (govt) cancelled trains carrying protesters to Delhi, you want to push them to violence. Police Force deployed for me as well. I wrote in many letters that I don't need police protection. Your protection won't save me. This sly attitude of the government is not done," Hazare said before launching his strike.

Hazare yesterday took a round of the Ramlila Maidan, where the organisers claimed that thousands of people will attend the protest.

The 2011 anti-graft agitation by Hazare had received the support of millions of people across the country.

Hazare and his supporters will first visit the Rajghat and then they will march to Shaheedi Park and then to Ramlila Maidan.
