Sonia Gandhi fallen ill in Shimla, taken to Delhi at midnight

SHIMLA: Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was rushed to Delhi from Shimla on Thursday after her health condition deteriorated. Sonia Gandhi had come to inspect the construction work of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s under construction bungalow at Chharabra near Shimla but she had to be rushed to Delhi in emergency situation.
In October last year too she had to cut short her visit and later she was admitted at a hospital in Delhi.


Sources said that on Thursday night around 11pm, Senior Medical Superintendent of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Dr Ramesh Chand received the call to arrange for the medical team and ambulance to taken Sonia Gandhi to Chandigarh.


Sources said that Sonia Gandhi had complained of breathing problem and was having high blood pressure. Hospital administration had requested to bright her to medical college for treatment but her staff preferred to take her to Delhi for treatment.


On this, a medical team headed by Dr Ramesh Chand himself took her to Chandigarh by road. Instead of ambulance Sonia Gandhi completed the journey in her personal vehicle. From Chandigarh, she was airlifted to Delhi during night itself in a chartered flight.


When contacted, Dr Ramesh Chand confirmed that Sonia Gandhi was taken to Chandigarh during night after she complained of high blood pressure.
