The father of a woman, whose was allegedly married to a Madhya Pradesh minister's son, today wrote to Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia alleging police were trying to hush up the matter of her suicide.
Chandan Singh Raghuvanshi, the woman's father, in a letter to Scindia, alleged that his daughter committed suicide as her husband, PWD minister Rampal Singh's son, was planning to marry a second time.
The 28-year-old woman had allegedly committed suicide on March 16.
State Congress spokesman Pankaj Chaturvedi, a close aide of Scindia, said the woman's father urged the senior leader to reach Udaipura, the minister's hometown, to support the deceased's family.
According to Chaturvedi, the woman's father alleged that the minister was "misusing his power" to hush up the issue.
The woman's family claims they have evidence of her marriage to the minister's son, he said.
Chaturvedi informed that Scindia would meet the family on March 30 and would also raise the issue in the Lok Sabha.
Raghuvanshi told reporters that the minister and his kin were responsible for his daughter's death and that the police were "pressuring and misleading" the family.
State BJP spokesperson Deepak Vijayvargiya said that it was a sad incident.
"The police are probing the entire issue. This is a sad incident. I don't think this is an issue for politics," he said.
Inspector General, Bhopal range, Jaideep Prasad said the Raisen police had recorded the statements of the woman's family members.
Raghuvanshi had to be admitted to a local hospital after he complained of uneasiness, he said.
State Congress's chief spokesperson KK Mishra had last week claimed that the woman married minister Rampal Singh's son Girjesh Pratap at an Arya Samaj temple on June 20, 2017.
He had alleged that Girjesh was pressuring the woman to return documents related to the marriage so that he could marry again.
