Doon University wins first prize in national debate competition

The Doon University won the first prize in the 7th edition of Inter-University National Debate co mpetition held at Jamia Milia Islamia Central University, New Delhi.

On the basis of the overall performance, the Doon University was awarded the first prize which was held by the Delhi University last year. Participating in the ‘Dr. Zaikr Hussain Memorial Debate’ titled ‘This house believes that the millennial generation is post racial’, the team of Ujjwal Sharma, third year student of BSc Economics and Yashi Singh, first year student of German language won the first prize in Hindi language.

Abhinandan Garg, first year student of MA Spanish Language and Ashutosh Srivastav, first year student BSc Economics won the third prize in English language.

Assistant professor at School of Media and Communication, Doon University, Absaar Abbasi, informed that a total 42 teams participated in the debate competition.

Doon University vice chancellor C S Nautiyal said, “It is a matter of pride for the Doon University family in particular and the state of Uttarakhand in general that our students are bringing laurels to the university.”
