Multiple Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt had the chance to show off his football skills on Friday, nutmegging an opponent and scoring with a header as he trained with Borussia Dortmund in front of a cheering crowd. Some 1,500 people were in the stands of Dortmund's training ground for the morning session and dozens of reporters and camera crews were spread along the sideline as Bolt entered the pitch alongside players Mario Goetze and Julian Weigl.

Social activist Anna Hazare started his indefinite hunger strike against the Centre in Delhi on Friday, nearly seven years after his anti-corruption movement caught the imagination of millions of Indians and shook the then UPA government. The venue of his protest is the same iconic Ramlila Maidan, where he had sat on a hunger strike in 2011 demanding that the then government set up a Lokpal to investigate cases of corruption.

Despite Mumbai’s polluted beaches, Olive Ridley turtles seem to have found one beach clean enough to nest. A group of volunteers, engaged in a clean-up of the Versova beach on Thursday, spotted around 80 hatchlings. They called forest officials and ensured the turtles had a smooth passage into the sea.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to explore ways to further broad base ties between the two countries in a range of areas including trade and investment. Mr. Steinmeier, accompanied by his wife Elke Budenbender, arrived on his first visit to India as German president.

The US Senate passed a $1.3 trillion federal spending bill in dramatic dark-of-night fashion early on Friday, overcoming hurdles that threatened to send the government into its third shutdown of 2018. Lawmakers stared down a self-imposed deadline of midnight on Friday, when federal funding was set to expire, and passed the mammoth package by a vote of 65-32, with hours to spare.

A vast population of mainly tribals in the northeastern region depend on bamboo cultivation and trading to earn a living. Bamboo is used 4 multiple purposes like constructing dwelling, traditional utensils and crafts, and decorative items which has an increasing demand in foreign markets. The technique is often used by smugglers to smuggle bamboo to Bangladesh as all rivers of Tripura flow into neighbouring country of Bangladesh.
