The Hirschi Huskies' landmark season on the football field didn't go unnoticed by many, including the editors at Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine.
DCTF announced Friday that the Huskies are its Class 4A Team of the Year after going 11-3 and reaching the 4A Division I state quarterfinals. Hirschi won three playoff games for just the second time in program history, setting at least 30 school records.
"It's a great award," Hirschi coach Danny Youngs said via email. "We are very humbled and appreciative of it. We would like to thank everyone for their support and help with everything that it takes to have a successful season. It is definitely a group effort and takes more than just the coaches. The process started a long time ago for thses seniors and ended in one of the best seasons in Hirschi history. Be proud."
The 2018 edition of Texas Football Magazine is scheduled to be released in June.
