Family members of the Class IX student who committed suicide due to mental and sexual harassment, staged a protest, on Thursday morning, demanding a CBI probe into the harassment meted out to the girl by the two school teachers. The family members accompanied by parents of other students from the Ahlcon Public School blocked the road leading out from the Mayur Vihar 1 Metro Station.
The protest led by the family members of the 15 year old girl led to massive traffic jams on the Noida— Delhi Link road for close to one and a half hours.
However, a senior traffic police officer said that traffic snarls were reported for nearly five hours as the main road linking the two cites, apart from theDND flyway, between Akshardham Temple and UP gate, was jammed by the family members of the 15-year-old girl student of Ahlcon Public School. The family members were later forcefully made to clear the road and dropped back home in Noida by the officials.apart from demanding a CBI probe, the family of the 15 year old girl sought the immediate dismissal of the accused teachers.
According to the parents, one of the teachers had sexually harassed the girl, also putting her under immense mental pressure as he threatened to fail her even if she did not fare well in exams. Another teacher is alleged to have demotivated her. The principal of the school, allegedly kept ignoring her plaints and is thus one of the accused in the matter.
However, the police are yet to arrest anyone in the case, claiming that it was prima facie difficult to understand if the girl was intentionally failed in the exam or the teacher made any advances on the girl.
"Due to the protest on the Delhi-Noida link road, there was traffic jam on both sides. We deployed traffic personnel on important junctions and diverted the traffic from Noida to Delhi to the Delhi-Noida-Delhi flyway," said Omvir Singh Bishnoi DCP (East).
The protest started outside the Ahlcon Public School and later the family blocked both the sides of Noida link road. The vehicular movement was completely blocked, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
Although, the protest was for demanding justice for the victim but later the youth, who had joined the protest to show solidarity with the victim's family created ruckus on road. Even victim's brother was seen hurling abusive language on commuters and police personnel present on the spot.
"The family members ignored repeated requests to clear the road. We were made to wait for more than three to four hours. There were kids who were returning back home but the family created an issue for every commuter," said Kabir Arora, a commuter.
The police diverted the traffic into internal roads. Traffic from Akshardham flyover was diverted towards left via Hasanpur village to NH-24. Commuters heading towards Noida were diverted from the bridge near Manas Apartments to interior roads connecting to Noida border areas. The commuters coming from Noida to Delhi had no option but to take interior roads to reach their destinations in Delhi.
Delhi police was aware of the fact that after 5 pm, situation would get worse if traffic on the Delhi-Noida link road is not opened. Around 4:15 pm when an official from Delhi Lieutenant Governor office came to spot, Delhi police officials reached the spot and forcefully picked up the parents and others sitting on dharna into a Delhi police bus and dropped them back home in Noida.
