Steinmeier visited the Mughal-era mosque
Jama Masjid in the national capital today.
Steinmeier, who is on a five-day-visit to India, was accompanied by his wife Elke Büdenbender.
Trust member of Jama Masjid, Tariq Bukhari, briefed the German couple about its history.
Steinmeier arrived in India yesterday.
The German President began his five-day trip with a visit to Varanasi where he took a tour of the Sarnath museum and the archaeological site. He also visited the Mulgandha-Kuti temple where he was welcomed in a traditional ceremony.
