Sport Relief 2018: Celebrities get involved in charity fundraising events across the UK

SPORT RELIEF 2018 is underway with celebrities and the British public raising money for charity, with Alex Jones, Greg James and Zoe Ball all doing their bit for charity by tackling their biggest challenges to date.

Sport Relief challenges the British public to put on their trainers and get active in order to raise money for charity.

Celebrities up and down the country are doing their bit for the charity by challenging themselves to hike, swim, cycle and climb mountains.

The One Show presenter Alex Jones, 41, braved freezing temperatures to swim across Loch Ness in Scotland for part of her Sport Relief 2018 challenge. She joined four inspirational mums to raise awareness for maternal health with the epic adventure.

Mum-of-one Alex also conquered Helvellyn mountain in the Lake District as well as cycling three of the regions toughest passes. The team of mums also navigated a maze of dark caverns in the Porth Yr Ogof cave in the Brecon Beacons and finished the ‘Mother of all challenges’ with a run across the Welsh coast.

TV presenter Zoe Ball cycled over 350 miles from Blackpool to Brighton for her challenge. The Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two host was joined by Fearne Cotton, Harry Judd John Bishop along the way and has raised £500,000 so far.

Radio 1 DJ Greg James completed his Sport Relief challenge, the ‘Gregathon’, last week to climb three of the UK’s highest mountains and cycle the distance between them.

On March 16, Greg reached the summit of Ben Nevis in Scotland, after hiking to the top of Mount Snowdon and Scaffell Pike raising almost £1 million for the charity in the process.

Comedian John Bishop also got involved by helping England manager Gareth Southgate prepare his squad for this summer's competition in a Sport Relief sketch to be shown on BBC One this evening.
