South Korean giant LG Electronics is planning to bring a new series of microLED displays to the market. This is not the first time a company is introducing a microLED panel to the consumer market as Apple has also been reported to develop microLED display technology to be used in its future devices. Samsung too unveiled a microLED TV at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) at 2018. Apple said that it would be bringing microLED display technology to its next generation of smartwatches in an earlier report.

MicroLED displays are the next step after the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and are more efficient as compared to the OLED displays. It uses a different light emitting compound, which consumes less power as compared to the OLEDs. The downside to microLED displays is that they are difficult to produce.

A report on GSMArena mentions that the upcoming flagship by LG, expected to be called the G7, is rumoured to come with a microLED display panel. A hands on video of the smartphone was also seen during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018.
