Diaspora hailing from Bihar commemorated 'Bihar Diwas' here to mark the 106th anniversary of the formation of the Indian state.
The Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) celebrated "Bihar Diwas" at the Indian Consulate here last week, according to a statement.
The event was attended by BJANA President Vinay Singh, Vice President of BJANA Avinash Gupta and Consulate General of India in New York Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty.
Alok Kumar, a BJANA executive committee member and the Executive Vice President of Federation of Indian Associations spoke about achievements of some of the prominent BJANA members.
The event included a cultural programme and dance performances by children. A video message from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the occasion of Bihar Diwas was also played.
"The vision and mission of BJANA is to integrate people from Bihar and Jharkhand through celebration of cultural festivals and philanthropic and charitable initiatives in North America and in Bihar and Jharkhand," the release said.
