The Union and State governments should formulate a comprehensive policy to check misuse of provisions of the Land Acquisition Act.
This emerged at a reading session of a book on Haryana governance and politics, Gustakhee Maaf Haryana, authored by senior journalist Pawan Kumar Bansal.
The event was organised by the Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Gurugram, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Haryana Regional Branch, at the HIPA auditorium here on Thursday.
While welcoming the author, HIPA director-general G. Prasanna Kumar said the people of Haryana were very witty and had the rare quality of laughing at themselves.
While reading extracts from the book, Mr. Bansal spoke at length on how farmers’ land was looted by misusing provisions under the Land Acquisition Act in Haryana.
‘Aaya Ram Gaya Ram’
The book also highlights Haryana’s politics of corruption, defection, casteism, floor-crossing, Bharat Darshan, the ‘Aaya Ram Gaya Ram’ phenomena and style of functioning of successive Chief Ministers of Haryana since its inception as a separate State in 1966. The book covers major happenings of Haryana.
The real picture
Author of two more books — Haryana Ke Lalo Ke Sabrange Kisse and Tips for Investigative Journalism, Mr. Bansal said the book shows the real picture of politicians of Haryana, cutting across party lines, and exposes how they hoodwink people by making false promises to win the elections.
