Water tourism project named ‘Jalayanam’ to be launched in Kochi

Water tourism projectIn order to attract both domestic and international tourists, the water tourism project named ‘Jalayanam’ will be launched in Kochi tomorrow. The project, introduced by Responsible Tourism Mission (RTM), will be inaugurated by the stateTourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran. The project will cover Olavanna and Kadalundi grama panchayats in the first phase.

 
District collector U V Jose said, “Chaliyar River, Kadalundi River and Mampuzha River will be opened for tourists. Boat riding facility will be introduced in these rivers so that tourists can explore the beauty of these water bodies.” The project is being implemented by district RTM with the support of Olavanna and Kadalundi Grama panchayats.

 
Officials are also thinking of linking ‘Jalayanam’ with Village Life Experience tourism for improving the economic condition of the villagers. Various traditional labourers and artisans will be included in the project.

 
Under Jalayanam, the tourism department also wishes to link farm tourism for helping visitors learn about the agriculture sector in the region. A website for ‘Jalayanam’ project will be launched on the inaugural day.
