Taking strong objection to BJP leaders’ allegation that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) pointed out financial irregularities in the implementation of Pattiseema project and it needed a probe by CBI, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu questioned whether the CAG’s observations on lapses in various Central government programmes did not merit an inquiry.
“The project execution is being closely monitored by the Polavaram Authority and hence there is hardly any scope for any misdeed. The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) government submitted the utilisation certificates from time to time,” he said in a statement on the occasion of World Water Day in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Mr. Naidu said: “No conspiracy could stall the Polavaram project for which ₹42,000 crore is still to be disbursed by the Central government.”
The State government would complete 52 irrigation projects on a mission mode and it was in the process of linking the Godavari river with the Penna and the Vamsadhara with the Nagavali. These projects would solve the water crisis faced by the north coastal districts and the Rayalaseema region. All these were a part of the government’s dream of creating a ‘Maha Sangamam’ which has no parallels in India.
Poser to PMO
Mr. Naidu questioned the motive behind the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) giving appointments to YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy. He said it was tantamount to colluding with criminals who were making rounds to the PMO to find a way out of the multiple corruption cases in which they were A-1 and A-2.
“What is happening is a clear joining of forces by the BJP, YSRCP and Jana Sena. But, we will thwart their plans to destabilise the State. The fight against the injustice will continue in Parliament as well as outside,” he asserted.
