To protest against the State Government not clearing their salaries for the past one year, the teaching staff of DAV (PG) College would wear black ribbons on their arms from March 22 to March 26.
They said they would agitate under the banner of Federation of Uttarakhand University Colleges Teacher’s Association (FUUCTA) and Garhwal University Teacher’s Association (GRUTA). They threatened to go for an indefinite cease work from April 4 in case the salaries remain unpaid till then.
When contacted, the principal, DAV (PG) College Devendra Bhasin said that he was unaware of the development as he was out of station for the past few days.“I am facing the same along with others- teaching and non-teaching staffs- for the past one year.
There may be some technical problems. I have been informed though through various sources that the State Government has released salary of one month for the college staffs on Wednesday,” he said.
GRUTA general secretary DK Tyagi said that a meeting was held in the college campus on Wednesday during which the decision to sport black ribbons on the arms for five days from Thursday was taken.
“The association would boycott works for a day on March 27 and if the State Government fails to release their pending salaries by April 3, we would go for an indefinite strike from April 4. A meeting would be held on April 4 and such a decision might be taken there if the situation remains the same,” he said.
