Rain and hailstones affected normal life in Sikkim today. Most places, including the main market of Gangtok, was covered with a blanket of hailstones.
Traffic was disrupted for about an hour. There are also reports of snowfall in high altitude areas of north and east districts.
The local met office has already issued a weather warning advising people to remain in safer places.
Director, Sikkim Meteorological Center, Gopi Nath Raha informed that the state experienced rain, snow and hailstones due to an upper air trap in the north-south direction.
He said spells of rain are expected in the next 48 hours.
